Hamsadhwani Raga
Hamsadhwani is a popular audava raga (pentatonic scale) in Carnatic Music. It consists of five notes. S – Shadja R2 – Chatushruti Rishabha G2 – Antara Gandhara, P – Panchama and N2 – Kakali Nishada.
The raga omits the madhyama and dhaivata swaras, giving it its bright and auspicious characteristics. It has its origins in the Carnatic tradition and is traditionally attributed to Ramaswami Dikshitar, the father of the renowned composer Muthuswami Dikshitar.
